Your security is a shared responsibility! While PollyPrize is built with security in mind, here are essential practices to keep your funds and assets safe when interacting with PollyPrize or any Web3 application:
  1. Secure Your Wallet:
    • NEVER share your private key or seed phrase (recovery phrase) with anyone. Anyone with these can access all your funds. PollyPrize staff or admins will NEVER ask for them.
    • Use a strong, unique password for your wallet.
    • Consider using a hardware wallet (like Ledger or Trezor) for significant assets, as it keeps your private keys offline.
    • Beware of phishing scams: Double-check website URLs (ensure it’s the official PollyPrize site). Be wary of unsolicited DMs, emails, or links asking for wallet connections or personal information.
  2. Verify Contract Interactions:
    • When your wallet asks for confirmation, review the transaction details.
    • Approvals: Pay attention when approving token spending. Understand which contract you are approving (spender) and ideally approve only the necessary amount if possible, though approving a large amount once is common practice for trusted dApps. Regularly review and revoke unnecessary allowances using tools like revoke.cash or Etherscan’s token approval checker ([Link to Abscan equivalent if available]).
    • Transactions: Check which function is being called and the value being sent (especially for ETH payments).
  3. Understand Gas Fees:
    • All transactions on Abstract require a small network fee paid in ETH (Abstract’s native ETH). Ensure you have enough ETH in your wallet to cover gas.
    • Gas fees fluctuate based on network congestion. Your wallet will estimate the fee before you confirm.
  4. Use Official Links:
    • Only interact with PollyPrize through official links provided on the Polly website, Twitter, or Discord announcements. Avoid clicking links from unknown sources.
  5. Do Your Own Research (DYOR):
    • Understand the raffles you are entering, the prizes offered, and the associated risks.
    • Cryptocurrency and NFT values can be volatile.
Impersonators are common in crypto. Be extremely cautious of anyone reaching out claiming to be support or admin, especially if they ask for sensitive information or ask you to click unusual links or connect your wallet to unknown sites. Official support channels will be listed in the Support section.
By following these practices, you can significantly enhance your safety while enjoying the fun of PollyPrize raffles!
